Home Dogs Adopted

Thankfully and with the help of many people and donations we do manage to re-home dogs. Most of our dogs go to Holland through the Myrtos Animal Project and others are adopted by individuals who help with the costs.

Below are all the dogs that Hectors House have helped to be adopted or re-homed.

Georgie

Georgie is a male dog small/medium size. He was the last puppy left of a litter of puppies born approx 03/11. Georgie was owned by a Greek family and the father asked for help from another organisation with re-homing him. Somehow he must have been forgotten and the Greek family do not want him and threatened to euthanize him. Obviously we could not let that happen so here he is.....lets hope we can find him a lovely owner. When he came to HHC he was a very scared timid dog, but after a couple of days he is now a bouncy playful boy and he just loves him 'roomate' Daisy.

Georgie was re-homed by MAP in January 2015

Labette

Labette is a female dog found roaming around the local beaches. When she came to us she had a very 'damaged' leg which she must have broken some time ago.
The break in the leg was never treated and healed on it's own leaving Labette with a severly deformed leg. She is not in any pain and can move just as quickly as any other dog.
Labette is fully grown, born approx April 2011. Labette is so called as she looks like a Labrador with short legs!!!

Labette was re-homed by MAP in October 2014

Jake

Jake is a lovely pup born around May 2012. He was dumped on a friend of mine some months ago now and I managed to find a home in Germany for him but was let down a couple of days before he was due to fly.
So little Jake is now up for adoption. Jake is a small/medium sized dog and will prbably not grow much taller now.
Jake has a really nice nature and he gets on well with other dogs. He currently shares a pen with Bugsy and Newby and I call them the 'Crazy Gang'!!!!

Jake was re-homed by Ambers Hope in October 2015

Copper

Copper is a lovely male dog born approx Jan 2012. He is medium build and called Copper because of the rich colour of his fur.
Copper did not have a great life until he reached HHC. He had been a stray in the area of Istron where it transpires he had been shot in the leg, bullets still lodged in his front paw.
He had been wandering around for weeks when someone called to say he'd been hit by a car. Some friends who had been feeding him caught him (he was very scared and traumatised by his 'accident') and I took him to the vets.
By the time he got to the vets he had calmed down, so he did not need to be sedated for his x rays. This is where we found out that he had been shot some weeks before and the bullets had gone through the bone and lodged in his paw.
He had probably just been hit by a stick/broom etc which had caused the area of the break to swell up causing great pain to him.
When he reached HHC he was still very frightened, but after a day or two he started to trust again. Soon he begain to hug you when you went to feed him and now he just loves everyone.
He is such a loving boy ......

Copper was re-homed by GAS in April 2015

Layla

Layla is a stunning female dog born approx Dec 2011.
Layla was left tied up outside HHC. When she came to us she was very thin and seemed to get even thinner as time went by. She was also terrified of people.
We had her tested for everything and all her tests came back negative which really surprised us. We had to get some weight on her and the only way that this could be done was by regular feeding, so we brought her home so that we could feed her every 3/4 hours.
Thankfully this has worked and she is a good weight forher breed/size. Layla is still a bit timid but we will work on socialising her now.

Layla was re-homed by HHC in June 2015

Iris

Iris is a blind dog. I found her roaming outside HHC the day after Angel was tied up.. She was very frightened at first and when I approached her she ran away, but she stayed in the area.
At first I did not realise that she could not see. It was only when I got close to her 2 days after first seeing her that I realised her problem.
Iris is approx 2 years old. She is only a small dog and as you can imagine a little frightened. But she is very affectionate and just loves a belly rub.

I have since found out that some weeks ago she had a litter of puppies and was attacked by a bird of prey who took her puppies away. Iris obviously put up a fight and that's how she lost her sight. She did have lots of scratches on her face when I found her, so this is possible.

I also found out that Iris and Angel were seen in the garden of a businessman from Agios Nikolaos, who had been at HHC asking if I could take a dog and 5 puppies from him........I explained that I was full and couldn't.

So it looks like he just dumped some other dogs on me instead!

Iris was adopted in November 2013

Red

This is a lovely male dog we have named Red.

He must have been 'dumped' near HHC as he was just hanging around the field next door. He was a little shy at first but I managed to get close to him and stroke him. At first I chained him to a tree outside HHC as we did not have room for him, but when Verity was adopted a space became available for him.

He is a medium sized dog approx. 2/3 years old. Really gentle and loving nature, always wants a cuddle.

Samuel

Samuel was brought to one of our neutering campaigns on the premise that he would be released back to the village where he lived as a stray. When I saw the condition of him ( he has leishmania) I would not release him as this would have been a death sentence for him. When he came he had no energy and had just about given up on life.

Samuel is a male dog approx. DOB 2012. He is very friendly and has obviously been someone's pet. He is house trained. Samuel has been neutered. He is only a small dog, a bit like a spaniel.

Samuel was adopted in October 2016

Leo

Leo is a castrated male dog approx 18months old. He's an unusually marked dog with a black body and brown brindle markings on his legs and head. He's a mix of boxer/ german shepherd, with a really loving nature. Leo is a large strong dog, but intelligent and learns quickly, so very trainable.
Leo is a very affectionate dog and has to have a cuddle before I leave HHC or he howls and barks ...awwww big baby!
Leo was found in a small mountain village in January 2011 and was going to be shot by the locals if he wasn't taken away...

She was found in the middle of the highway and was so scared she would not move. She is a very sweet and loving little girl. She has been a loved pet but I think that she was abandoned because she has a 'cherry eye'.

She is only very young approx. DOB 03/15
